Iceland

In November 2018, Luke proposed and they planned a Norway honeymoon. COVID-19 canceled their 2020 trip, and 2021 wasn’t feasible. In 2022 they postponed for family, and finally rebooked for 2023 with updated passports. School snow days almost interfered but they made it to Iceland, visiting the Blue Lagoon and exploring Reykjavik.

A Honeymoon Abroad: Iceland Day 1

Samie and Luke arrived in Iceland, feeling exhausted from the time difference. After a refreshing visit to the Blue Lagoon, where they enjoyed the mineral-rich water and complimentary mud mask, they explored Reykjavik after a much needed nap. They savored a classic fish and chips meal, visited the iconic Hallgrimskirkja Church, and indulged in local ice cream and chocolate.

A Honeymoon Abroad: Iceland Day 2

Luke and Samie’s second day in Iceland was an adventure on the South Shore. The tour bus left at 9:00 am, taking the group through stunning landscapes to Skógafoss waterfall, Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, Sólheimajökull glacier, and Seljalandsfoss waterfall. The day was packed with natural wonders, local treats, and close encounters with Iceland’s flora and fauna.

A Honeymoon Abroad: Iceland Day 3

Our last day in Iceland was more relaxed, with a puffin-watching tour and shopping in local stores. The tour offered close views of puffins, followed by a meal at The Seabaron and a popular Icelandic hotdog. After shopping for souvenirs, they ended the day with coffee and snacks at Emilie and the Cool Kids before preparing for an early flight to Oslo, Norway.

A Honeymoon Abroad: Norway Day 6 & Iceland Day 4

Samie and Luke spend their final day in Oslo with a relaxing morning at the train station, making use of luggage storage, exploring the city and indulging in a leisurely meal at Peppe’s Pizza before returning to the airport for their flight back to Reykjavik. It concludes with a delightful supper in Reykjavik and spending time with their Airbnb host’s cat, Mia.

A Honeymoon Abroad: Iceland Day 5

Samie and Luke wrapped up their memorable honeymoon in Reykjavik. They savored a leisurely morning at their Airbnb, visited Rainbow Street for coffee, lunch, and dessert, and then headed to the airport. After a smooth check-in, they were surprised to encounter an old friend on their return flight to the United States. The journey ended with a relaxed hotel stay before heading home.

Instruments of Iceland

The relationship between a nation and its musical instruments is reciprocal; Iceland’s unique landscape and cultural traditions shaped the development of instruments like the kantele, fiðla, and langspil. This local music reflects the populace’s emotions and stories, showcasing their history and resilience, influenced by environment and tradition.
