A Comedy Festival in Winnipeg: Days 1 & 2

In July 2024, a family trip was planned to the Great Outdoor Comedy Festival in Winnipeg, Canada, inspired by comedian Nate Bargatze. The journey included stops in Fargo for delicious food and a memorable crossing of the Canadian border. They explored Winnipeg’s Alleyways in The Exchange, enjoying markets and local treats.

Texas Road Trip 2018 (Part One)

In August 2018, Luke embarks on a road trip with friends Samie, Evan, and Alyssa to Padre Island, Texas. They start by staying at Evan and Alyssa’s college apartment in Vermillion, SD. After a long 12-hour drive through multiple states, they camp in Flower Mound, Texas, anticipating more culinary adventures in Austin.

The Only Ten We See for Our 4th Anniversary: Days 5 & 6

During their last full day in Nashville, the couple engaged in various activities, including mini-golf at Puttshack, dining at Central BBQ, and exploring the Nashville Farmer’s Market. Their trip concluded with a visit to the Parthenon. They reflected on their enjoyable experiences and prepared to return home the next day.

PASIC 2017

The Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Indianapolis provided an unforgettable experience for Luke and his former percussion professor, featuring numerous classes, performances, and product showcases. Highlights included meeting renowned musicians, participating in seminars, and enjoying interactions with the Blue Man Group. The journey home was bittersweet, marked by fond memories and newfound knowledge.

Samie and Luke’s fourth day in Nashville included a tour of Belle Meade Plantation, where they enjoyed a wine tasting. They later explored White Bison Coffee and Bringle’s Smoking Oasis for BBQ. Washington D.C. Marching Band Trip (Finale)

During their chaperoning trip to Washington DC, Luke reflects on their final day, visiting Arlington National Cemetery. The group’s organization and knowledgeable guide enhanced the experience, particularly during the changing of the guard. Despite challenges on the bus ride home, Luke feels immense pride in being part of the marching band’s journey and student development.

On Day 3 in Nashville, the travelers explored barbecue spots and local distilleries, opting for a low-key day amid the heat. They enjoyed coffee at Milk & Honey, sampled pulled pork at Peg Leg Porker, and tasted boozy slushies at Party Fowl. The day concluded with authentic Vietnamese cuisine at Love, Peace, and Pho.

Washington D.C. Marching Band Trip (Part 4)

During Memorial Day week, the group participated in events in Washington D.C., including a visit to Ford’s Theatre and a reenactment of Lincoln’s assassination. They marched in a parade, where the band received an award for excellence. The day concluded with dinner at Catholic University and a visit to the Iwo Jima Memorial.

On July 11th, 2024, Luke and Samie enjoyed their day in Nashville, starting with breakfast at D’Andrews Bakery and Cafe, then exploring Broadway’s bars for drinks and music, stopping for lunch at Assembly Food Hall to try Prince’s Hot Chicken. They capped the evening watching a Nashville Sounds baseball game, enjoying snacks and drinks.

Samie and Luke traveled to Nashville from July 10-15, 2024, for an early anniversary celebration. They enjoyed local attractions, including dining at Hattie B’s and attending a comedy show at Zanies. Their trip featured affordable flights, delicious Southern food, and surprise performances from favorite comedians, creating a memorable travel experience.

During an exhausting day of exploration in Washington, D.C., Luke and a group of around 90 students visited key landmarks, including the Capitol, National Archives, Library of Congress, and Air and Space Museum. The highlight was an evening tour of memorials, culminating in a sense of appreciation for American history and upcoming events.
