Friends. Fun. Food (Part 3)

Sam, Dani, Nyssa, and I started out last day with a dynamite brunch. We checked, double checked, and triple checked that we had everything out of our Air BnB and headed downtown. We found a parking garage a short walk from a very trendy restaurant called “The Breakfast Club”.

There was a very deliberate attention to Instagram-ability when designing this place. This place had the aesthetic and some kick butt food to back it up. We tried a little savory and a little sweet. The service was very good even after it got busier. Samie’s french toast came with a caramel sauce that was down right addictive. I tried the hash brown sticks that had everything in an awesome loaded hash brown, but also deep fried into a giant mozzarella stick shape. It was pretty gluttonous, but were so tasty.

After our breakfast we found the nearest bookstore and started walking that way. It was only a couple of blocks, but on the way there we came across a coffee shop. This place was called Moona Moona. It also had a large retail area that celebrated Asian and Asian American culture. They had a section for Korean skin care products. They also had a section for Japanese stationary. There was also home goods and toys. It was an awesome place to just look around! Of course we found somethings to buy and we were on our way with some goodies and caffeinated drinks.

Our next and last stop before getting out of the cities was Magers and Quinn Booksellers. Our first impression of this place was very positive. There were tall ceilings and a lot of windows and that very specific feeling of walking into an old, well established store. After walking around a bit we realized this place was MUCH bigger than we first thought. It just kept on going. We all naturally split up and gravitated to different genres. I had very little self control and left with an arm load of books that will ultimately collect dust as I listen to their audiobooks.

The weekend was so jam packed with the absolute best food and fun activities, but my favorite parts were when we all piled into the car and drove between the places. We chatted, vented, and gabbed. We caught up with the very best people we know and only see once a year. Maybe we just do the talking part next time. Or! I saw this speakeasy in St. Paul that looks cool, Or! my friend told me about a rooftop restaurant that is to die for, Or!…Or!…Or…
