Today is the day we get to explore Lake Louise. Mom, Dad, Annie, and I loaded back up in the van to go see some beautiful glacial water.

This area has a lot more to offer than vibrant teal colored lakes. We drive into a large parking lot where they offer a shuttle service. We shuttled to a small town that is the home to souvenir shops, excursion businesses, and a convenience store. We got our bearings there first and then shuttled to the lake itself. There is also a very upscale hotel near the lake with incredible grounds to walk around. There was a wedding being set up around the time we were there and it looked fit for royalty.

We took in the view and walked around a good bit before shuttling over to the Lake Louise Ski Resort. This resort was massive with natural wood beams and posts. After we picked our jaws off the floor we boarded the ski lift to see what the top of the mountain had to offer.

This was very fun and nerve wracking, but you got used to it quickly and the views got better and better. Once at the top there was a short walk to a little museum to learn about the area and also a look out to tell you about what you could see from your vantage point. Turns out you can see over a dozen mountain peaks and this is a very popular ski destination.

There was also a restaurant on top of that mountain and we worked up an apatite. To no ones surprise, this was also fancy. We decided to treat ourselves and dine there anyway. Our food choice became easy when we all saw “fondue” around the same time and all agreed that was the right choice.

I also got to order a smoked old fashion. The waiter took out a wood plank and set it on fire and turned it over on top of my glass to smoke it out. The show was amazing and the cocktail was better.
After that we ski lifted back down and exited through the gift shop. We waited for a shuttle and met a nice Australian seasonal worker. We made it back to the van and back to Golden to rest up before tackling Banff the next day.
