Exciting start to summer!
For anyone reading this that doesn’t know, I am the drumline instructor at Aberdeen Central Highschool. Our marching band was selected to march in the Memorial Day Parade in our nations capitol. We had enough students wanting to participate so the idea became reality quickly.
A patriotic parade piece of music was chosen and we started having after school rehearsals to put it together. The students also hadn’t marched for some months and needed to get their feet back into discipline.
This is the same high school that I went to and my senior year we went on this very same trip. One main difference is that we flew back in 2012 and this time we took busses. Both have their pros and cons.
I will get into more details as the weeks unfold, but we have many museums, monuments, and memorable moments to get into.
