Mini-moon in Wisconsin Dells (Part 2 of 3)

August 6-9 2020

Sam and I start our day, like many on our trips, by typing “coffee” into google maps. We found a place right by the Wisconsin River with a patio. We needed the caffein boost because we were about to embark on a mini gulf marathon.

There are many options in Wisconsin Dells if you are in the mood for mini golf. There is only one option that has 5 different 18 hole courses with varying difficulty levels. That is The Pirates Cove. This became the obvious choice when we saw what they offered. We bought a package that alloyed you to play all courses in your own time.

Samie and I share a love of mini golf and had gone on multiple put put dates early in our relationship. This has now become a tradition especially around our anniversary.

We had an absolute blast. They also had crane games where Samie won a blue cow that would squeak when you squeezed it. When either of us scored a hole in one we got to squeak the blue bovine.

It took us 4 hours to play all 90 holes and it still felt too fast. The winner (Samie) received a free ice cream at the end and the loser (Luke) had to drive us back to the cabin where he passed out on the floor almost immediately from a crushing defeat.

The next day we had an exciting adventure ahead of us. It was our first time visiting a winery! Fawn Creek Winery is about 10 miles north of Wisconsin Dells. We didn’t know what to expect at a winery but the website advertised free tasting so we figured we better check it out.

We arrived and signed up for the next tasting and after a couple of minutes of waiting we were sampling their selection. They had a pamphlet on what we were trying and we liked them all. They mostly had fruity wines that suited us perfectly. After getting pretty toasted on the samples they turned us loose on their bar/ sitting areas. They had some pretty spectacular wine slushies that we enjoyed very much.

To combat the amount of sweet wine sauce we were consuming we ordered a comically large pretzel.

We stuffed ourselves full. The salty carbs were the perfect counter action to the wine. We didn’t end up finishing it all but no body can say we didn’t try.

We ended up buying 6 bottles of our favorite flavors and headed back to the car. We were loopy and had to sit their for quite a while as we composed ourselves. These are the situations where being twice Samie’s size pays off. I also happen to have a higher tolerance to alcohol because of poor choices in college. I say all this to say that I did not drive drunk or even buzzed, just very happy!
