Our multiple country honeymoon got demoted to a multiple state mini-moon road trip. Compared to many people our pandemic was very easy. It did however change a couple of once in a lifetime moments for us. My wife Samie spent a year and a half planning for our wedding in July of 2020. And almost as long planning for our honeymoon.

We got married in our backyard but the same solution would not work for our honeymoon. Norway had shut down its borders and put an end to any adventure we dreamt up. When thinkin of alternatives flying seemed like a headache so we looked for possible road trips. Samie had gone to the dells before and it sounded like a good time to me (other than rollercoasters of course).

Wisconsin Dells is a city built for tourism. With over 20 different amusement/water parks it had something for everyone. It also has a variety of restaurants, breweries, wineries, and distilleries to make sure there’s fun for the whole family. Basically if you go there and don’t have a great time then it’s your own dang fault.

We wanted distance from the shouting children of an amusement park town so we found a cabin near by to seclude ourselves. It was only a 15 minute drive back into the dells and made for a perfect get away.

In the following days we would battle a wizard, befriend a blue cow, and quaff the cup of bacchus.
